Thinking of Starting a New Charter School?

TCSA announces its charter start-up training series for educational reformers and entrepreneurs. This one-day training session is designed for all persons thinking about applying for a charter school through the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE). This six-hour training session aims to empower future charter leaders with knowledge for the development of a competitive charter application and an effective charter school.

Charter Start Beginner – Ideal for persons seeking general information about the Texas Charter School movement and for persons preparing a Generation 17, not the Generation 16 application to the SBOE. If a Generation 17 application cycle is approved by the SBOE, then the deadline for applications likely will be the last day of February 2012.

Important Notice:

Persons or groups interested in applying for the Generation 16 application due Feb. 24, 2011 who did not attend the mandatory TEA Charter Application Orientation Conference on Oct. 7th, 2010, must attend the last offered TEA Charter Application Orientation Conference on Dec. 9th, 2011 at TEA headquarters located in the Travis Building in Austin Texas. It is a requirement that any person or group who plans to apply for a Generation 16 charter school attend an orientation. Attending our training does not count as your orientation (there has been some confusion; TCSA set its training date prior to the release of the second TEA orientation date). Our training is additional training designed to give potential applicants strategies and best practices to produce the most competitive application possible. If you have already attended the orientation session on the Oct. 7th, 2010 and plan to turn in a Generation 16 application, then attending our training session would be of tremendous value.

See TEA website for orientation information. http://www.tea.state.tx.us/index2.aspx?id=3475
